Behold various parts of a mouse brain stained with various fluorescent molecules that release light after being excited. The technical information as to what exactly is going on can be found by clicking here.
By the way, the first one is a mouse cochlea and it wins the fractal of the day award in my book. The second one is a mouse hippocampus (cranial memory lobe and general chemical signal processor) and the last one is a technicolor mouse cerebellum (muscle memory and primitive function brain center). I got these images from the web, but the cool thing is, in cell-bio we actually get to do this type of imaging. Enjoy the show Chiao!
