May I just say...

COMPUTERS ARE STUPID!!! Now that that is out I feel much better. So for 4 days now I have been trying to solve a problem. I finally gave up and went to the professor. Whereas it failed for 4 days consecutively, the second that I get the teacher it decides to work. Yay for Irony!

You knew that it had to happen just to make you look somewhat unintelligent. That almost happened to me but the problem broke the teacher's calculator too.

Mathematica is a pretty powerful system. In a matter of seconds, any equation, ANYTHING in the entire universe, within a matter of seconds, seconds, it will give you an Error message!

What was the problem praytell?

The problem wasn't nearly as difficult as the post makes it sound, simply plot the vector field for a system of Differential Equations, the problem came about in trying to figure out the exact syntax of the thing, and it didn't help that in my meddling I accidentally defined the function I needed to work with as a variable. So instead of recognizing VectorFieldPlot as a command it immediately tried to solve for the quantity VectorFieldPlot. Yeah, didn't work so well.

They are sentient and trying to punish you. The only solution is to become a jock or luddite.

Good luck.
